The steps to follow when verifying a green home
The instructions below are for verifiers. Instructions for builders seeking green home certification are outlined on the Home Certification page.
- Meet with builder and agree to fees and services to be provided
- Obtain designer's report from builder for home to be verified
- Download verification report spreadsheet and transfer information and points claimed from designer's report (provided by the builder); print copy to use as your guide for the inspections
- Schedule rough inspection with builder and notify the NAHB Research Center
- Confirm with builder at beginning of rough inspection points claimed and level of certification targeted
- Complete rough inspection following instructions in Verifier's Resource Guide
- E-mail verification report – signed by both verifier and builder – to NAHB Research Center
- Schedule final inspection with builder and notify the NAHB Research Center
- Complete final inspection following instructions in Verifier's Resource Guide
- E-mail final verification report – signed by both verifier and builder – to NAHB Research Center
